Technolgy overload

  •
    • Without question, done properly, the use of multimedia can enhance your presentation, yet some of the most vivid memorable presentations of our century used no technology at all. But if you are going to use something, consider this; the risk of something going wrong rises exponentailly with every piece of gadgetry you employ, so consider a risk mitigation strategy.
    • Projectors, generally come in two guises, wireless and non wireless. We've played with wireless projectors and conclude that they infrequently drop the connection which leaves a bad impression with the audience, so if the presentation is important, wire it up.
    • Brightness, brighter is better as you dont want to plunge the audience into darkness which will only make them fall asleep. Buy the brightest you can afford.
    • VGA or XGA, if your presentation has lots of detailed graphics, then a high resolution projector is a must.
    • Screens, generally a 6*6 foot screen is fine for a seminar with 50 people or less, but the slide layout is key, project your slides in advance and see how they read from the back.
    • Laser pointers, if you ned them, you ahve too much detail on your slides, plus your hands are likely to shake with anxiety amplyfying the laser effect - dont use them
    • Remote clickers - use these to allow you to step away from the pc and engage with the audience
